TEC – A Journey to Research

Carl Friedrich Gauss – Mathematics is the queen of the sciences. | Ada Lovelace – That brain of mine is something more than merely mortal, as time will show. | Katherine Johnson – We will always have STEM with us. Some things will drop out of the public eye and go away, but there will always be science, engineering, and technology. | Leonardo da Vinci – Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. | Thomas Edison – Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration. | Nikola Tesla – The present is theirs; the future, for which I really worked, is mine. | Archimedes – Give me a place to stand and I will move the earth. | Blaise Pascal – The heart has its reasons of which reason knows nothing. | John von Neumann – Young man, in mathematics you don’t understand things. You just get used to them. | Alan Turing – We can only see a short distance ahead, but we can see plenty there that needs to be done. | Alexander Fleming – Penicillin sat on my shelf for a long time before I worked out what it was. | Antoine Lavoisier – Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed. | Dmitri Mendeleev – Work, look for peace and calm in work: you will find it nowhere else. | Gregor Mendel – My scientific studies have afforded me great gratification. | Rachel Carson – The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction. | Francis Crick – What is true for E. coli is also true for the elephant. | James Watson – We used to think that our fate was in our stars. Now we know, in large measure, our fate is in our genes. | Rosalind Franklin – Science and everyday life cannot and should not be separated. | Louis Pasteur – Chance favors the prepared mind. | Charles Darwin – It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change. | Johannes Kepler – Truth is the daughter of time, and I feel no shame in being her midwife. | Max Planck – Science advances one funeral at a time. | Niels Bohr – Prediction is very difficult, especially if it’s about the future. | Marie Curie – Nothing in life is to be feared; it is only to be understood. | Galileo Galilei – You cannot teach a man anything; you can only help him find it within himself. | Carl Sagan – Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known. | Richard Feynman – I would rather have questions that can’t be answered than answers that can’t be questioned. | Isaac Newton – If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants. | Stephen Hawking – Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change. | Albert Einstein – Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world.
